New coconut oil study shows us who the real nuts are

Dear Friend,

If you're not crazy for coconut oil, you should be.

It's taken a while, but mainstream research is finally starting to catch on to the health benefits of coconut oil -- even if they still can't quite put two and two together, as usual.

But that's OK -- I'm ready to do that for them.

I was all set to celebrate when I read the latest study on mice in the journal Diabetes, which found that coconut oil can protect against insulin resistance without leading to fat accumulation in the body.

Is your cell phone a death machine?

by William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

The studies are starting to add up, and they all point in the same direction: Cell phones emit harmful radiation that can cause cancer and infertility. And we still have no idea what these things will do to all the kids now growing up with one practically implanted in their ears.

Sci-Fi mystery disease attacks the Southwest

Dear Friend,

Imagine this nightmare: your skin covered with sores that mysteriously sprout strange red, black, and blue fibers threads. This is accompanied by the unnerving sensation that your body is awash in ever-crawling insects. Now the bad news: you don't have to imagine it. It's real. It's a disease called Morgellons, and incidences of it are growing so rapidly that the Centers for Disease Control has commissioned a study to try and find out what it is and where it's coming from.

SARS Scars

Weapons of mass distraction...

As I'm sure you'll recall, I wrote to you just 10 days ago about the new SARS pandemic - specifically, how to keep this fast-moving menace at an arm's length. Since then, the number of worldwide cases has skyrocketed to an estimated
5300, and by the time you read this, that figure could easily have doubled...

Take two aspirin and call them from the morgue...

In much of the popular culture -- including the media and mainstream doctors' offices -- ordinary, garden-variety aspirin has been elevated to the status of "miracle drug" for the prevention of heart attacks. This is nothing new. And according to these "experts," aspirin fights heart attacks by making the platelets (clotting agents) in your blood less likely to bind together in clumps and clog up your arteries...

A spoonful of sugar...

What works and what's worthless

Last week in the Daily Dose, I tried to reveal to you the alarming extent of today's depression epidemic -- and the even more alarming one-sidedness of the mainstream's treatment of it with prescription antidepressants...

No picnic

Growing up? Take a pill...

I've written before about children and drugs -- how seemingly every kid nowadays with even the mildest case of "ants in the pants" is immediately force-fed a mega-dose of good old vitamin R (Ritalin, of course)...

Who giveth and taketh?

The only thing that should be "fortified" nowadays is your
 bomb shelter...

We've all know about "fortified" foods -- and the claims in
ads for white bread and sugar-laden breakfast cereals that
claim they're actually good for you -- because they've
been "fortified" with vitamins and iron...

Let's get realistic here. It doesn't take much to figure out

Steak Bloody good

To boost your ticker, cook steak quicker...

By now, you've probably heard about homocysteine. I've been writing about it for nigh on 20 years, and unless you're new to alternative medicine, you've probably heard a bit about how it relates to heart disease...

Today a name, tomorrow a diagnosis...

Finally, a label for the lunacy...

As you probably know, I've been writing about the ludicrous fads and factions of the so-called "health food" movement for years now - and I've called it just about every name in the book... All except the right one, that is.
