Flying The Unfriendly Skies

8/8/2002

But deep inside I'll never yield to the airport terrorism that President Bush has imposed on us as his answer to Osama bin Laden. I'm willing to shoot bin Laden. I'd even volunteer to fly a bomber against him if we had any idea of what country he is in. But I'm not willing to let fear of Osama bin Laden weaken our civil rights and convert our airports into police-state nightmares.

IT'S THE OIL, STUPID!

The Russians got into their Vietnam right after we got out of ours? Isn't that strange?

We supported Bin Laden and the Taliban for years, and viewed them as freedom fighters against the Russians? Isn't that strange?

As late as 1998 the US was paying the salary of every single Taliban official in Afghanistan? Isn't that strange?

Isn't law the protection of property rights?

 Isn't policy by consent?

We all can agree that governments are instituted among men to secure rights, and govern by consent. That's what is in Statute #1, the Declaration of Independence. And for a government to act, it must either be helping to secure someone's right that was injured, OR by consent.

Repeating: 1) injured party or 2) consenting party.

Origin of the State

It is certain that if the two greatest of all the commandments had always been observed by all men, there never could have been a State on the earth.

There would have been society, but no State. The government would have been altogether the government of God. God being the only King, the only Governor, on earth, even as in heaven.

This is so surreal, I feel that I
have become delusional.

A right-wing oil gang, having
stolen the election, is now being
exposed as corrupt and is faced by a
serious stock-market decline and a
severe recession.

To stay in power, they are
preparing to launch a first-strike
war, even though the top military

leaks to the press of the impending
war plans.

They might drop an atomic bomb

<b>Holding Dick Cheney

Filed August 5, 2002

By now, you'd think the Bush White House would be pretty adept at responding to the rising tide of corporate scandals washing over the White House lawn.

Clearly, though, Team Bush had an off day last week when, in the space of 12 hours, it was revealed that both Harken Energy, while President Bush was on its board, and Halliburton, while Vice President Cheney was its CEO, had created subsidiary shell companies in offshore tax havens.

George W. Bush is shattering records for the worst first 18 months in office for a U.S. president as measured by the benchmark Standard & Poors 500. In his first year-and-a-half in the White House, Bush presided over a 36.9 percent decline, almost twice the percentage drop of Herbert Hoover, the president who led the nation into the Depression.
