New health threat from tobacco: Researchers plan to grow it for producing vaccines and new pharma drugs

The European Union is reportedly funding research designated as the NEWCOTIANA project that will turn tobacco plants into so-called biofactories to develop vaccines and new drugs.

Big Pharma bribery in China now hits Novartis: Claims of faked research and bogus trials

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is apparently not alone in bribing doctors throughout China to sell more of its products, as new reports indicate that Switzerland-based Novartis has also been caught engaging in this and other illicit activity in recent years. China's 21st Century Business Herald reports that a whistleblower by the pseudonym "Zorro" recently came forward with allegations that Alcon, Novartis' eye care unit, had offered financial kickbacks to at least 200 Chinese hospitals to boost sales of its lens implants.

Big pharma drugs are proven (scientifically) to wreck lives

No one knows how many lives are lost or ruined because of the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs. But we can make an educated guess. Prescription drugs taken as indicated by hospitalized patients cause an admitted minimum of 106,000 deaths per year – according to a report published by the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Big pharma wants to monitor your drug consumption

In other words, the more pills they sell the better. So, big pharma has designed a way to monitor your (toxic) drug consumption.

Generic drug companies granted total immunity against all lawsuits from patients harmed by side effects

You may want to think twice before taking any more generic copies of brand-name pharmaceutical drugs, thanks to a recent Supreme Court ruling that effectively eliminates manufacturer liability in injury cases resulting from negative side effects. In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court recently overturned a $21 million judgment awarded to a New Hampshire woman injured by a generic pain drug, declaring in the process that generic drug manufacturers cannot be sued when the drugs they produce injure patients.

World's largest pork producer ditches Big Pharma's chemical feed additive, angering drug-pushing FDA

A significant percentage of the U.S. pork supply could soon get a little bit healthier, thanks to a recent game-changing policy shift by the world's largest pork producer and processor. Reports indicate that Smithfield Foods is gradually ditching the use of a controversial animal feed additive known as ractopamine, which triggers high production of lean meat in pigs. But the decision, which is apparently in preparation for a buyout by a major Chinese counterpart, has prompted the drug-pushing U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to come out in defense of the dangerous additive.
