Recently we wrote about the 72-year-old Florida grandmother whom the Food and Drug Administration Nazis are charging with a couple of felonies and some misdemeanors for helping cancer victims get the laetrile (Vitamin B-17) they need. There is still time for you to help her. Please let me know.

Feeding the world requires more than a spoonful of safety

EAST LANSING, Mich. – While the United States battles an obesity epidemic,

millions around the world are starving or malnourished – a population already at increased risk of foodborne disease. Fighting hunger goes hand in hand with the fight against foodborne disease, urges a Michigan State University researcher.

When production of food goes up on a mass scale, something in the food system – even the smallest problem – can exacerbate on a large scale and a large amount of people can be affected by foodborne disease, says Ewen C.D.

While e-mails circulating about the imminent banning of over-the-counter vitamins and minerals in the U.S. are overly hysterical and in some cases downright false, food-supplement activists still are skeptical about new guidelines likely to be put into effect later this year by a U.N.-linked global commission.

As with many e-mail warnings passed through the ether, the current letters include some accurate information but with overblown conclusions and misleading predictions.

Codex role in global food safety rules underlined

23/02/2005 - Underlying the destructive power of foodborne disease against the backdrop of the increasingly complex food industry, the head of a food safety centre warns the rise in demand for food carries an “invisible price tag”.

When production of food goes up on a mass scale, a food system becomes more vulnerable, with even the smallest problem magnifying and translating into a large scale dilemma.

THE EU VITAMIN BAN: How the fight is going, and how you can help

Quite a few readers have been wondering how goes the fight against the EU's ban of vitamins, which could see 300 supplements disappearing from health shops by August. So this week we've spoken with Dr Rob Verkerk of the Alliance for Natural Health (ANH), which is challenging the legislation in the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

Rob tells us that the Advocate General is expected to provide a preliminary view on 5 April, but the final decision of the court won't be known until June.

Codex - Bridging the Great Divide

It lies from Heaven across the flood
Of ether, as a bridge.
Beneath, the tides of day and night
With flame and darkness ridge
The void, as low as where this earth
Spins like a fretful midge.

Summer of '05 Critical Time for Dietary Supplements

by Suzan Walter

The future of dietary supplements may be determined by what happens this summer. Not just one, but many different yet related matters are all coming to a head within the next the next eight months. Since everything is interrelated, you will want to track national, regional, and international events.

They're at it again!!! - "T-WOM GROUP (THRU WORD OF MOUTH)"

Your right to choose your vitamin, mineral and other supplements may end in June of this year (2005). After that U.S. supplements will be defined and controlled by the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The CODEX ALIMENTARIUS (Food Code) is setting the supplement standards for all countries in the WTO. They will be enforced by the WTO and will over ride U.S. laws. The U.S. President and Congress agreed to this take-over when the WTO Treaty was signed. Violations are punished by WTO trade sanctions.
