Lack of B6 and Folic Acid Linked to Increased Breast Cancer Risk


A study with Chinese women evaluated their vitamin B6 and folic acid intake1 in comparison to breast cancer risk. Researchers found that the lower the intake of these two B vitamins the greater the risk for breast cancer.

An article published online on August 9, 2012 in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention reports the finding of researchers at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center of an association between higher levels of the active form of vitamin B6 known as pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (PLP) and a lower risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
