NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Despite the public's reported widespread use of acupuncture, herbs and other complementary and alternative medicines, many physicians lack the information they need to counsel their patients about such treatments, study findings show.

Magnetic Brain Therapy To Aid Depression

CHICAGO (UPI) - Researchers believe magnetic pulses fired into the brain might fight severe depression as effectively as shock therapy with fewer harmful side effects.

Medical scientists believe the technique may prove a far more inexpensive alternative therapy "particularly for the many severely depressed patients who do not benefit from or tolerate current established treatments," said lead researcher Philip Janicak, medical director of the Psychiatric Clinical Research Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Want to find God? Magnetism might provide the answer

The technology at the core of professor Allan Snyder's experiments to boost creative intelligence, transcranial magnetic stimulation, is behind some pretty wacky claims. Subjects in experiments by Dr. Michael Persinger, of Laurentian University, believe they felt the presence of God, or some similar mystical experience.

GENEVA (AP) - In response to a rapid increase in the use of alternative medicine over the last decade, the World Health Organization has created the first global strategy for traditional medicine.

The U.N. health agency aims to bring traditional, or alternative, therapies out of the shadows by intensifying research into their effectiveness and safety, by promoting their proper use and regulation and by helping countries integrate them into their health care services.

ALTERNATIVES Newsletter Editor Dr. David G. Williams discusses the merits of intravenous administration and oral consumption of hydrogen peroxide therapy.

When it comes to hydrogen peroxide therapy there seems to be only two points of view. Supporters consider it one of the greatest healing miracles of all time. Those opposed feel its ingestion is exceptionally dangerous, and only the foolhardy could think of engaging in such behavior. Before either condemning or endorsing hydrogen peroxide, let's take a real close look at what we're dealing with.

The New Medicine

Introduction to Dr. Hamer's New Medicine

by Ryke Geerd Hamer, M.D.

That there is a connection between the psyche and disease is neither a new discovery, nor is it Dr. Hamer’s discovery. To quote Dr. Hamer:

"Through the millennia, humanity has more or less consciously known that all diseases ultimately have a psychic origin and it became a "scientific" asset firmly anchored in the inheritance of universal knowledge; it is only modern medicine that has turned our animated beings into a bag full of chemical formulas."
