MINNEAPOLIS April 11, 2007 In a recently published article in Penton Medias Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals, magazine, 7-Keto® from Humanetics Corporation was named by Dr. Mark Tallon as one of three weight loss ingredients in the top tier of his efficacy pyramid. The article specifically targeted the dietary supplement weight loss ingredient category, exploring the current ingredients available and how they measure up against toxicological, in vitro and in vivo human-controlled efficacy & safety trial criteria.
As a scientist I always ask, show me the data, when it comes to products that claim to influence weight loss, says Dr. Mark J Tallon, CEO, OxygeniX, Ltd and CR-Technologies, LLP. The evidence for such products ranges from extensive to zero. To build back consumer confidence, we need to begin separating those proven products from those lacking data, says Dr. Tallon.
7-Keto (3-acetyl-7-oxo dehydroepiandrosterone) is a naturally occurring substance produced by the body in the adrenal glands and its production declines with age. It is a non-stimulant, thermogenic agent that is clinically proven to increase metabolism and promote healthy weight loss. 7-Keto works naturally with the body to enhance the activity of three thermogenic enzymes Glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, Malic Enzyme & Fatty Acyl CoA Oxidase. The up-regulation of these three key fat burning, thermogenic enzymes promotes weight loss without stimulants and produces 3 times more weight loss than diet & exercise alone.
To support the effectiveness of 7-Keto for weight loss, two double-blinded placebo-controlled clinical trials were independently conducted and have been published in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, a third clinical study of overweight adults that were administered 7-Keto in conjunction with a calorie restricted diet produced a statistically significant 5.4% increase in daily RMR when compared to a calorie restricted diet only. Specifically, 7-Keto plus a restricted calorie diet demonstrated an increase in RMR of 1.4% above baseline levels versus a 3.9% decrease in RMR in the restricted calorie diet only group.
Were delighted that 7-Keto continues to receive the recognition it deserves for being one of the best weight loss ingredients available to consumers today, says Scott Steil, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Humanetics Corporation. With research that has spanned 16 years and rigorous toxicology, pharmacokinetic and human efficacy & safety trials, we feel 7-Keto has definitely earned its spot at the top of the pyramid, says Steil.
