Today, fluoride is everywhere. Dentists push fluoride treatments on us, it’s in our tap water, it’s in our commercial toothpastes and mouth washes – whether or not you think fluoride is bad, come on, we can all agree that it’s wrong for the government to forcibly medicate us by adding it to so many things, right?
Fluoride is a neurotoxin, plain and simple. The debate on that is closed. It’s been used in the past by Communists and Nazis to lower IQs and make people more compliant, and it can also calcify the pineal gland, cutting us off from the spiritual seat of the mind.
But a new study published in Pharmacognosy Magazine finds that curcumin, a constituent found in turmeric, helps prevent damage to the brain caused by fluoride.
The study, authored by researchers at the Department of Zoology at the University College of Science in Udaipur, India, spend the last decade investigating the mechanisms through which fluoride harms the brains of mammals with a focus on the hippocampus and the cerebral cortex.
“Fluoride (F) is probably the first inorganic ion which drew attention of the scientific world for its toxic effects and now the F toxicity through drinking water is well-recognized as a global problem,” wrote the study’s authors. “Health effect reports on F exposure also include various cancers, adverse reproductive activities, cardiovascular, and neurological diseases.”
In order to control and assess the neurotoxic effects of fluoride and demonstrate the ability of turmeric to combat it, researchers divided a random group of mice into four groups. One group was given no fluoride, a second was given fluoride in water without restriction, a third group was given flouride with curcumin, and the fourth was given just curcumin and no fluoride.
What were the results?
“Our study thus demonstrate that daily single dose of 120 ppm F result in highly significant increases in the LPO [lipid peroxidation, i.e. brain rancidity] as well as neurodegenerative changes in neuron cell bodies of selected hippocampal regions,” concluded the researchers. “Supplementation with curcumin significantly reduce the toxic effect of F to near normal level by augmenting the antioxidant defense through its scavenging property and provide an evidence of having therapeutic role against oxidative stress mediated neurodegeneration.”
It’s no secret that fluoride is everywhere and it’s often difficult to get away from it. Now there is scientific evidence that you can protect yourself from the potential dangers of it.
