I really hate to be woken up out of my sleep about Fukushima because it really is the nastiest thing going on our planet. There is no foreseeable end to it and nobody has any good ideas on how to stop it. It is more than possible that it will never be brought under control so through the centuries it will continue to leak until the entire planet is hot with nuclear particles. However, the nuclear power industry still thinks it is safe, and poses no threat to the future of humanity. Doctors as well continue to use nuclear radiation to diagnose and treat patients with cancer.
I have children so news from Fukushima offers only heartbreak when thinking into the long-term future. The real measurement of how bad things are over there is the total silence in the mainstream media and even news is quite sparse in alternative news channels as well. As predicted things are getting worse. About 26 times worse than they were four years ago. The former Japanese ambassador to Switzerland, Mitsuhei Murata, recently suggested that Japan should stage an ‘honorable retreat’ from hosting the 2020 Olympics due to the unpredictable situation at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.
Murata’s gravest concern is a number of troubling indications of recurring criticality [i.e. uncontrolled nuclear chain reactions] in one or more of the reactors at Fukushima No. 1. For example, he notes that in December 2014, both radioactive iodine-131 and tellurium-132 were reported as having been detected in Takasaki city, Gunma Prefecture 130 miles SW of Fukushima Daiichi. Given the short half-lives of these radioactive particles, their presence could not be the result of the original meltdowns at Fukushima.
RT Russian News reported, “Deadly radiation levels of up to 9.4 Sieverts per hour have been recorded at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant – enough to kill a person in less than an hour if directly exposed, local media reports. The mortal radiation reading was taken in a small room, using a remote-controlled robot. The reading of 9.4 sieverts (Sv) per hour was taken during the September 4-25 checks. Immediate radiation exposure around the Fukushima nuclear power following the deadly incident reached 400 millisieverts (mSv) per hour in places. One millisievert is a thousandth of a sievert, therefore the new 9.4 Sv reading is 23.5 times higher than the radiation level recorded in March, 2011.”
The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says levels of radioactivity in underground tunnels have sharply risen. Tokyo Electric Power Company has detected 482,000 becquerels per liter of radioactive cesium in water samples taken from the tunnels on December 3rd. That’s 4000 times higher than data taken in December last year.
Most of us, thanks to our governments and mass media, are living in a dream world. There is no reality there is only lies, distortion and blind belief. Fukushima is a monument to humanities stupidity and the fact that life on earth is only going to get more difficult.
We have been on a suicidal path as a civilization economically, financially, politically and environmentally with nuclear power, bombs and nuclear medicine being much more important to get rid of than carbon dioxide. The problem with nuclear material is that there never was a plan for what to do with nuclear waste. So worse than rapists who destroy the future of their victims, the nuclear industry destroys the future of everyone.
The crisis at Fukushima has brought into the open the unspoken relationship between nuclear energy and nuclear war. Nuclear energy is not a civilian economic activity. It is an appendage of the nuclear weapons industry, which is controlled by defense contractors. The powerful corporate interests behind nuclear energy and nuclear weapons are the same and they could care less about the future health of children or even the continuation of our race. Sounds like we are defining a group of psychopaths and sociopaths and we are.
In August, Japan restarted a nuclear reactor at the Sendai power plant despite widespread opposition and public safety concerns. Former Prime Minister Naoto Kan publicly protested the move, joining a last-minute rally outside the plant where he warned that Fukushima "exposed the myth of safe and cheap nuclear power, which turned out to be dangerous and expensive."
A new report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) whitewashes the continuing environmental and health effects of the Fukushima nuclear meltdown while supporting the Japanese government's agenda to normalize the ongoing disaster, Greenpeace Japan charged in the middle of 2015. Greenpeace states: “There is still no safe, reliable solution for dealing with the radioactive waste produced by nuclear plants. Every waste dump in the U.S. leaks radiation into the environment, and nuclear plants themselves are running out of ways to store highly radioactive waste on site. The site selected to store the U.S.’s radioactive waste—Yucca Mountain in Nevada—is both volcanically and seismically active. Beyond the risks associated with nuclear power and radioactive waste, the threat of nuclear weapons looms large. The spread of nuclear technology and nuclear weapons is a threat for national security and the safety of the entire planet.”
Meanwhile major Japan newspaper said there were mutations in nearly every fir tree by Fukushima plant, that insects with missing legs or crooked were common and that abnormalities are also being found in monkeys, fish and frogs. There is a surge in deadly ‘flesh-eating’ disease in Japan — “Shatters annual record” — Health experts issue advisories — Official: “Researchers are not sure why.
In Fairewinds’ latest update of the ongoing nuclear catastrophe at Fukushima Daiichi, Chief Engineer Arnie Gundersen presents two reports that confirm the direct link of numerous cancers in Japan to the triple meltdown. Based upon data from Japanese medical professionals and [TEPCO], Arnie concludes that heavy radioactive discharges will be the cause of enormous spikes in cancer in Japan
