Lack of B6 and Folic Acid Linked to Increased Breast Cancer Risk

A study with Chinese women evaluated their vitamin B6 and folic acid intake1 in comparison to breast cancer risk. Researchers found that the lower the intake of these two B vitamins the greater the risk for breast cancer.

This study compared 438 women with breast cancer to 438 age and residence matched control subjects. These results held for all types of breast cancer regardless of hormone receptors. In other words, B vitamins are required for healthy metabolism at the level of DNA activity, to reduce the risk of breast cancer.
