The second measure you need to take is to eat plenty of protein. The scientists warn that protein intake plays an integral part in muscle preservation.

The third consideration is vitamin D. The scientists note that vitamin D plays a crucial role in the development of muscle mass and function. They recommend getting plenty of sunshine to let the skin make vitamin D and/or supplementing with vitamin D.

Their fourth tip is to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables while going easy on grains and meat. Fruits and vegetables alkalize the body, a process that benefits muscles.
