Ginger makes cancer prevention a reality

(NaturalHealth365) Ginger is proving to be an effective treatment for cancer. In fact, ginger extract has been shown to have anti-metastatic properties and can inhibit a wide range of cancers. In the near future, ginger (no doubt) will be part of a low-cost, effective treatment option for cancer patients.

Great news for women concerned about breast cancer

A new study that was performed by researchers at the Biological Sciences Department, Faculty of Sciences, King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia, discovered that ginger extract inhibited the proliferation of breast cancer cells – without significantly affecting the normal cells. This promising property of ginger, known as selective cytotoxiciy, has the potential to replace many chemotherapy drugs – on the market today.

This is not the only study to confirm gingers anti-breast cancer properties. Ginger has been shown to positively activate a wide rage of molecular mechanism, working simultaneously to induce apoptosis (cell suicide); activate a pro-apoptosis gene; down regulate cancer-associated proteins and genes; and increase cancer inhibitors.

Ginger has been shown to inhibit many other cancers including colon and rectal cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, melanoma, pancreatic cancer, and prostate cancer.

A natural way to protect yourself against colorectal cancer

A study from the University of Minnesota’s Hormel institute suggests that gingerol is a first rate cancer fighter. In the study, researchers fed mice specially bred to lack an immune system a half milligram of gingerol three times a week before and after having human colorectal cancer cells injected into their flanks. The control mice received no ginerol.

Tumors appeared 15 days after the mice were injected, and 4 tumors were found in the gingerol treated mice compared to 13 in the control mice and the tumors were smaller.

Ovarian cancer cells die under the influence of ginger

Lab experiments presented at the 97th Annual Meeting of the America Association for Cancer, by Dr. Rebecca Lui and her colleagues from the University of Michigan, showed gingerols decimates ovarian cancer cells by inducing apoptosis (cell suicide) and autophagocytosis (self-digestion).

Dr. Liu examined the effect of a whole ginger extract containing 5 percent gingerol on a number of different ovarian cancer cell lines. Exposure to the extract caused apoptosis in all the ovarian cancer lines studied.

Ginger has a positive effect over prostate cancer cells

Meanwhile, over 19 studies have reached similar conclusions on ginger’s anticancer benefits, including exerting significant growth-inhibiting and a decimating effect in a spectrum of prostate cancer cells.

A study out of Georgia State University showed whole ginger extract was able to shrink prostate tumor size by 56 percent in mice. This came with ginger’s ability to reduce inflammation as well as supplying a rich source of health-enhancing antioxidants.

Ginger vs. pharmaceutical drug therapy

According to scientists at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, the premium priced drugs are more likely to harm the patient than safe them.

The following statement from researcher Dr. Raghu Kallur sums up the dangers of the standard medical protocols for patients: “Whatever manipulations we’re doing to tumors can inadvertently do something to increase the tumor numbers to become more metastatic, which is what, kills patients at the end of the day.”

Therefore, finding ways to incorporate ginger into your diet may be a lifesaver, the myth that only standard treatment can directly affect the outcome of cancers progression is a blatant lie.

Ginger is recognized for its antiviral, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger has a high concentration of active substances, which means you don’t have to use a large amount to receive its beneficial effects; all it takes is one or two ½ inch slices of fresh ginger in a cup of hot water for relief of stomach ailments.

Adding some fresh ginger to some of your recipe means getting more than flavor; it will assist with digestion, detoxifying and most importantly cellular health.
